NRHS Feb Band Concert

This band concert was wonderful! Once again the raw talent of the Jazz Ensembles, the Jaz Sextet, Percussion Ensemble, Concert band and Flutes and Clarinets sextet – just incredible – as evidenced by all the foot tapping both on stage AND in the audience!  Led by interim director, Henry Morel, filling in for Tom O’Toole  – the performances were flawless with nary a hiccup.  Particularly notable were soloists Robbie Enzmann, Dan Paladini, Colin Montgomery, Max Doucette , Drew Starkey, Robert Cohen and Yivan Jiang - all whom seemed very much in their element .  Mr. Morel was presented with several gifts onstage – as this was his last performance at Nashoba.   Tom O’Toole also took the stage after his comeback from surgery much to the delight and riotous reception from his students and the audience!  Welcome back, Tom!   (As always, you can click on customers above, to download images!)

NRHS Girls Basketball vs Hudson HS

With a final score of 44 to 31, the Nashoba varsity girls dominated the court from the beginning of the game.  Lots of action and just plain good playing!  While Hudson kept up the pressure and would come close at times, the Chieftains clearly held the day!

2010 Class Plays Competition

It’s that time of year again!   The class plays at Nashoba HS – where each class selects a one-act play, the directs, casts, and finally produces a show.  Each of the classes then is judged by a panel of judges for “Best Play by a class”.

Freshmen were first with “Oh My God, It’s another Play” by Rich Orloff.   Directed by Anna Schab and Meghan Tocci and produced by Jack Dischler – the stage was filled with various actors and actresses – romantic, dramatic, frustrated, melodramatic … the gamut.   The Freshmen were followed by the Sophomore class rendition of “Nothing says I Love You like bad poetry” by Werner Trieschmann.  Directed by Jane Kirkpatrick, Alex Llanso and produced by Nico Hammill – the story showed a young man (Nico Hammill) in love with a girl (played by Liz Sabourin) but spurned by the girl and her coterie (Hadley Barndollar and Beth Rogers) requesting … no demanding … that he write her a poem.  The play took us to a coffee house where the three-headed Goth Creatures, a frustrated teacher, a young woman, podiatrist and plumber all participate in a poetry-slam.  The play was wonderfully done – and they won the competition – a very unusual thing for any sophomore class to do when in competition with upperclassmen!

There was much competition from the Junior and Senior classes as well – The juniors produced “Thirteen Ways to Screw up Your College Interview” by Ian McWethy.  Directed by Mary Catherine Heelan and produced by Kristen DiBlasi,  they featured Adam Tocci and Hannah Groudas as two college interviewers with lots of very quirky college prospects.   The show was quite witty   Finally, the Seniors performed “The Competition Piece” by John Wells. Directed by Kate Bedding and Rebekah Tobia and produced by Nicole Juul-Hindsgaul – the show followed 3 groups preparing to enter a play competition – from selecting, casting and eventually performing.

Santa Claus came to Stow today

Once a year the magic descends on Stow as Santa comes to listen to the kids on his knee.  What fun to be behind the camera capturing these magical moments – from the tears of the littlest ones bewildered at his presence to those jumping up and down in glee!

This event is a yearly one put on by the Stow Womens Club and is THE event of the year for the youngest.  Coupled with breakfast, a silent auction, face-painting and other goodies, this benefit aides the various charities in Stow – the food pantry, community chest, schools, etc.  And what fun for the kids!  Frank, our former postmaster, is the jolly guy in red and he loves (and lives) the part.  Each kids he gives a little talk to and tells them that ‘Santa will always be there and he is your friend”.  Frank, er, Santa, makes sure to read every letter that the kids bring right there in front of them!  No junk mail here!  Here are some of the hilights of the day – imagine the drama!

As always – parents can download photos (or order more!) from my photocart.
