Every summer, the kids from Hale who are interested in drama further their interests with a summer drama workshop. The workshop this year focuses on a radio show gone murderous … more details later. Here are some sneak previews:

Ann DeCristofaro Blog - Everything photographic

The landscapers, Chris Fletcher and Luke Jones are done with my garden. Chris expanded the garden and provided the mulching. Luke assembled my arbor and put in the paved walkway. I am looking forward to using this area for some of my portrait sessions in the summer and autumn.
An early July hail storm that felled 3 trees on my property also devastated this garden – so the plant come-back has been thrilling to see. While many plants were cut in two and did not make it, many of them did make a remarkable recovery.
I added all butterfly and hummingbird-friendly plants to the garden. The birds are plentiful and the butterflies and hummingbirds have just discovered my new oasis.

Mid-July is a favorite time of mine. I love taking my camera on my dog walks and just photographing the bugs in the flowers. Dragonflies are particularly abundant and seem to pose for me. My dog, Dr Pepper, is disgusted that I would waste my time with a camera when I could be joining her running and jumping in ponds. Dr. Pepper refuses to pose for me and in fact, when I point a camera in her direction, will pointedly turn her head away!
These pictures were taken in back of Pompositicutt. I used my 70-200 lens mostly at the 200 setting. I also used a monopod to steady myself. The focus was so critical that I could not rely on using the AF features of the camera. It was much easier to just “hold my breath” and focus manually.
