Jackie and Jeff at Lucianos of Lake Pearl Wrentham, Ma

The last several weddings I have photographed have been rain drenched. Last week it was a hurricane, the previous week lightning and thunder in the middle of the drenched ceremony. Getting married in August or September is dicey when it comes to weather!

Nevertheless, the gods were smiling on Jackie and Jeff this weekend. The forecast was for 70% chance of rain and the humidity was so thick, you could taste it. Literally 20 minutes before the ceremony, Jackie did not know whether the ceremony would be indoors or outdoors. She finally chose outdoors and we all held our collective breaths. Now if you know photography, you know that the best weather for photographs is cloudy. So not only did the rain stay away, but Jackie ended up with the most beautiful photographic weather possible.

The wedding was at Luciano’s of Lake Pearl in Wrentham, Ma.   Kerrie was my second photographer.  In addition to a beautiful ceremony, the reception had the best dancing I have seen in my entire career!  Many of the guests were ballroom dancing enthusiasts – and the bride’s father owned a studio.  There were many highlights of both the ceremony and the reception – but my very favorites all involve dancing!

Take a peek at the wedding to see what I mean:

A stormy assist! The Willows of Salem, Ma

Kerrie and I have been assisting each other now for a year and have been having a lot of fun egging each other on to try different techniques. When I assist for her, I become her walking light.

This last wedding, however, was rather precarious! We were on a precipice (ok, so maybe I exaggerate! But it was pretty high up on rocks overlooking a lighthouse – a sheer drop of rocks to the water below!) At first the weather was nice, but as the ceremony neared, the distant rumble of thunder became more frequent. At five minutes before the ceremony, the clouds opened up along with thunder and (shudder!) lightning! The guests were prepared and all opened up color-coordinated umbrellas. Now my task became grabbing an umbrella and sheltering Kerrie while she took the pictures!

Anyhow, umbrella in hand – I managed to take these infrared shots of the wedding:

Holly and Mark at the Danversport Yacht Club

I had the distinct pleasure of photographing Holly and Mark’s wedding at the Danversport Yacht Club in Danvers, Ma. yesterday. Hurricane Hanna threatened us but managed to stay away long enough for an outdoor wedding at the Pergola. Angela Napolitano ( Angela’s website ) and I kept looking at the sky and praying – and guess what! it worked! Enjoy the movie below. The movie has music. If you prefer not to hear the music, there is a button to mute it. You may see all of the photos on My Photocart
