New lambs at Pilot Grove

With temperatures in the 90′s today, it was hard to imagine that it was Spring.  But Spring it is … and the season for new lambs.  Today I had the distinct pleasure of being invited by Skip Warren of Pilot Grove to see his newborn lambs.  Skip’s farm is one of the foremost attractions in Stow, Ma.  It is a rural vista of sheep, geese, rolling hills and the inevitable evil coyote – kept at bay by a wonderful donkey.  This farm has been in the family since 1782.  Mr. Warren was a wonderful host explaining in detail all the love and attention he gives his newborn lambs.  At the sound of his voice, all the lambs seemed to come to attention and the young ones immediately were drawn to his bottle.

What a pleasure to see the lambs up close!  Thank you, Skip!  I thoroughly enjoyed today’s visit!  Here’s my gallery of images:

Destination Imagination State Competition

Worcester Polytech hosted the 2009 Destination Imagination State competitions today. Destination Imagination is a global creative kid-centered problem solving program that rewards creativity, problem-solving and teamwork. The teams from Stow and Bolton were pumped. Here is a short slideshow of the competitions in the Elementary (5th grade – Center School), Middle (6th grade – Hale Middle School) and High School (Nashoba Regional HS). The kids compose their own songs, make their own props, integrate technology and think on their feet. It is pretty humbling as an adult to see what these kids are capable of.

As always with my community postings, the slideshow below and photocart offer free downloads for the kids of their own pictures. Kids (and parents) can freely download pictures to post on email, MySpace or Facebook. The slideshow below is a small preview. You can view the complete picture set on my photocart There is a button for a free download which will open a new window. Save As will save it to your hard drive.
