Tea Party for Two

While browsing at a consignment shop, I found a tiny china tea set for two. I remembered a tea party from long ago where my sister and I had great fun “pretending” to serve and sip. Hmmmm … a visit with my grandchildren was imminent. I wonder if they’d like to play too? So I bought the tea set and shipped it on to Minnesota. Did they have fun? You bet they did! Even near-3 year old Jack acted the part! His sister, Marley, held onto her teddy bear (which used to be Mama’s) and even Mama joined in.

Why don’t you consider this for your child too? You can tell that the mother really prepared the kids – dressing them up and “setting the table”, providing a teddy bear … and just talking it up beforehand so that the kids were excited. Preparation is key!

Outdoor Sessions – lighting counts!

Looking to have a wonderful portrait session with beautiful backgr0unds?  Think cloudy days for the best lighting possible.  Open shade is another alternative.  But you want to avoid direct sunlight.  Why?  Raccoon eyes!  Squinting!

Think of a photographic studio with umbrellas – those umbrellas are mimicking the diffuse light provided by cloud cover. So why not use the most magnificant umbrella of all? Of course, the day needs to cooperate!

What is the best time of day for photographs? That depends on the time of year to some extent. Early morning and dusk provide the best lighting and between 11 AM and 3 PM are often the worst times … unless of course it is cloudy!

So don’t get upset when the day isn’t sunny – that is often the best time for outdoor portraits!
